Mother Roar Series Conclusion- Do Not Relent

I started this Mother Roars Series because I heard my own “mother roar” from God years ago when many my age didn’t seem to have one themselves. I don’t know why a “roar” is what I hear in my heart and spirit, except that there is a fierceness to a mother lion or mother bear with her cubs and I am sure I wouldn’t want to be in her path if she had to give that roar. It seems only fitting that a human mother’s heart beats the same way for her own children. When the Lord began to tug at me about being the kind of mother He wanted me to be, I looked around in my generation and even the generation before me and was stunned that, at least in my little society sphere in the world, I didn’t see mothers.  What I saw in my generation, quite frankly, were women who lived for self-gratification and pleasure. Sure, they wanted to pro-create someday and have “little thems” running around on the earth, but I didn’t see the heart of a mother operating. It broke my mine.

Let me re-phrase that: God broke my heart.

My heart was broken because unless you have both Mother and Father, the way God says motherhood and fatherhood should be, family is only a minute fraction of what it is supposed to be. I didn’t want that for my family, and I don’t want it for any family. You probably don’t have to look farther than your own street in your town or city to see what the results of broken and /or ungodly homes look like… that is why God’s plan is truly best. When the family unit is strong and godly, however, you will see good fruit despite what life may throw at you.

When God began to break my heart for the family, and for mothers, I also began to catch a vision: What if we really did family His Way? What if mothers would BE mothers according to the Word? What if the family was fruitful?

I saw homes like strong fortresses set up in their communities, thriving, producing and bearing so much fruit that others had to ask, “How can I have that too?”; I saw churches thriving and cities changing. I saw whole states and yes, our nation coming back to the way God intended- and it all started with family. I saw father and mother doing what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Simple isn’t it? No outreach programs, grand ministry plans, and evangelism toolboxes- just the hearts of fathers and mothers being turned back to their children and vice versus. Oh how I wish that women could see just how wonderful they really are in the plan of God!

Women are the bond and cornerstones that hold the family together- it doesn’t work without us! (Part One of the Roar Series) A mother’s heart was made to LOVE- we have such an amazing capacity for love and to deny our families of it is a true tragedy. (Part Two) Women were created as warriors for the home and we have been given the unique post in the kingdom to guard it well! (Part Three) Finally, as mothers, we build- we build His kingdom with our wombs, our wisdom and our deeds- if we do it His way. (Part Four) Let us not take the charge lightly. And let us not think that we are not important to His Plan, in fact, we hold a high position ladies!

I have a lot to say concerning motherhood, as you’ll likely see in many in my posts to come, but this Mother Roar Series is like the core foundation of my views on being a mother. It is always my guide, my correction, my standard and my vision; it is also, at times my rebuke and discipline. There are so many opinions out in this world about what it means to be a good mother, but I am not interested in those anymore. My heart cry- or roar- screams, “What is God’s standard?” I love methods just like everyone else from time to time, good parenting tips and tricks are great- but the bottom line is this- do I please Him as a mother? If I do, then I can fully expect my family to flourish. If I am missing it by His standard, then I can repent and get back in line for the good of my family. Either way, through the study of what my Lord has to say about motherhood and the application of that study, I will eventually bear fruit for Him, for myself and for the family. That is something to rejoice over! In a world that can only make educated guesses, we have the right answer through the bible every time!

I want to encourage you from here on out: Do not relent. Do not quit. Do not give in to the mindsets and counsel of this world about women and motherhood. The bible tells us that we have a very real enemy, Satan, who seeks to steal, kill and destroy. He is trying his best to destroy family as God intended, but we, the believers, have the power to shut him down in his tracks, and it is through our own decisions to obey the Word of God concerning family. As I look across this nation and the condition of so many families, I beseech you- let’s do something about it. Let’s roar for our families, and then inspire another mom to give hers. Thank you for letting me share my heart with you these past five weeks.

Have you found your mother roar yet?
