Jalapeno Poppers

Some like it hot! If you’re craving something spicy (and are brave), these poppers will do the trick!

Ingredients:

  • Jalapeno peppers, about 10
  • milk
  • flour
  • bread crumbs
  • cream cheese- 8 oz.
  • shredded cheddar cheese, about 1/2 cup
  • oil for frying

Directions:

  1. Cap, halve and seed each jalapeno pepper, keeping each halve with its partnering halve when setting aside.
  2. rinse and pat dry the peppers.
  3. In a bowl, combine cream cheese and cheddar.
  4. fill a small bowl halfway with some milk.
  5. fill another bowl half way with flour.
  6. fill the last bowl with breadcrumbs.
  7. place cream cheese mixture in one halve of each pepper and press the other halve together with the first, allowing the cream cheese to be the ‘glue’ to hole them together.
  8. take each pepper and dip in milk and roll in flour. Set aside and allow to dry. Repeat this process twice.
  9. take each floured, dry pepper and dip in milk one more time and coat in bread crumbs, set aside to dry.
  10. in a large pot, heat oil for frying. (It is ready when you drop in a bread crumb and it sizzles)
  11. take the peppers and gently drop into oil, fry till golden brown.
  12. remove from oil and drain on plate lined with paper towel.
  13. When all the poppers are finished, remove oil from burner to cool.
  14. Serve with grape halves or a sweet jelly or dipping sauce- you may want to have a glass of milk nearby and a slice of white bread- these are pretty hot!

Step one: Cap, halve and seed
