In The Kitchen With Mama Nicci
I LOVE to cook for others, it is probably one of the top ways I choose to nurture another human being. I don’t know what it is about making something yummy for someone else, but it truly gives me joy to provide good food. I love to experiment with recipes and often create my own. It is definitely an outlet for me, even a comfort at times. When everything goes wrong in a day, I can still cook and know, at least most of the time, that it will turn out well.
Growing up in a metropolitan area, I was blessed to be exposed to all kinds of cultures and their foods. Most people think I am Italian (I am not), and sometimes, I even act like it because I was around so many Italian, Albanian, Greek, etc… people, especially in my teen years. One thing I learned to appreciate when visiting at friends’ homes was that food and meal time seem to bring the family together,– no matter what happened that day, how many arguments took place, or what dramas unfolded,–meals were shared and even at a young age it impressed me. I decided long before I had a family of my own, that I wanted the loud boisterous family meal table. And wow! With five sons, the Lord has certainly answered!
On this page, I share my recipes and meal time thoughts with you. Keep a look out for my very first cookbook, now in the making, which will hopefully be finished by next year; I will be posting excerpts and sample recipes along the way.
I will also provide my Bountiful Baskets recipes for the local ladies – for those of you who do not know what Bountiful Baskets are click here: http://bountifulbaskets.org/
It is a wonderful co-op for fruits and vegetables provided for us mountain families at an awesome low price, if you have it available in your area, I highly recommend it!
Enjoy!
